Glee Movie 3D

Glee has already taken over the small screen. Now, it’s coming to a theater near you!

Glee: The 3D Concert Movie will begin its two-week run tomorrow, with viewers being treated to behind-the-scenes shots and interviews with various cast members. As well as numerous on-stage performances, of course.

Glee 3D Concert Movie Trailer

In an exclusive interview with our friends at Movie Fanatic, Darren Criss, Lea Michele, Ashley Fink, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley and Chris Colfer opened up about the experience. Visit that site for the complete Q&A, excerpts from which are below:

Criss, on staying in character: I definitely blew it a couple times. I was in San Francisco making shout-outs to my parents and Blaine’s probably never even been to San Francisco [laughs].

Riley, on feedback from fans: One of the great things about this show is social media: Twitter and Facebook. We continually get letters and tweets from fans telling us how each character has touched them in some way and how they changed them in some way.

Colfer, on serving as a gay role model: It’s crazy when you represent such a select community. They always thank you so much when it’s really them who are brave and the strong ones. The stories that you hear are heartbreaking and inspiring.

‘Glee’ on the big screen? Yep, it’s true. The New Directions gang is heading to the movies.

20th Century Fox announced today that it will release ‘GLEE LIVE! 3D!,’ a feature film culled from footage that will be shot during this summer’s upcoming ‘Glee Live! In Concert!’ tour. The 3D extravaganza will enjoy a two-week theatrical run beginning Aug. 12.

‘Glee’ co-creator Ryan Murphy said in a statement that the film will allow Gleeks who couldn’t get tickets to the concert tour a chance to experience the madness firsthand.

“There were only so many cities we could get to,” Murphy said in a statement. “We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity. Now, thanks to our friends at Twentieth Century Fox Film, we’ll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three dimensional glory. We promise every passionate Gleek a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.”

According to the press release, “The movie will capture the unique concert experience along with special moments involving the characters themselves.” (We take that to mean behind-the-scenes footage and/or in-character skits.)

All of the show’s main cast members (including newbies Chord Overstreet, Ashley Fink and Darren Criss) will sing songs from season 2, including ‘I’m a Slave 4 U,’ ‘Teenage Dream’ and original songs ‘Loser Like Me’ and ‘Hell to the No.’ We’re sure they’ll also include some of season 1′s greatest hits — what would a ‘Glee’ show be without some Journey?
